G'day Chaps,

I'm a fitter and turner. I'm interested in history and World War Two flight simulator IL-2 1946.

I have two VNs. One I drive and the other is for spare parts. The one I drive is an outback car, a 1990 series II V6. It's done a lot of hard miles, but the engine is good, although I have cooling systen problem at the moment. And the one for spare parts is a 1989 Series I V6. The end of the camshaft fatigued.

I'm planning to do a lot of work to very soon, swapping over various good parts from the spare VN.

I like the VN. It's got a computer, which means no points to continually check. And it only has one engine sensor, which is behind the harmonic balancer. Easy to renew.

Also, it's got plenty of grunt for me, and the economy on the highway is good.

Cheers, Siggels.

Thanks for the welcome. It's actually a Series I engine. I've swapped over the front struts/control arms and the cooling system is now ubeaut. Still got lots to do. Better get cracking. Cheers.

Afterthought: The VN I drive has a sports exhaust and maybe it's got a worked cam. I like this, but I'm not into modifications, etc.

It also has high ground clearance with beefed up rear springs.

And it's got original outback dust inside the cabin, and on the outside the paint is a faded red colour, with specks of outback mud and bulldust, adorned with plenty of stone nicks on the front of the bonnet. It hasn't been washed for donkey's years.

It's got a big long scratch down one side where it was driven too close to a gate post.

The tyres are light truck tyres, although I swapped the front ones with the spare VN because they grip better on a wet road and also because the wheel alignment mechanic could not get the gear on the front wheels with the truck tyres fitted.

The air conditioner drain pipe is blocked up with dust and dirt, that's one on the many little jobs I've got lined up.

The front end is worn out. The steering rack leaks hydraulic oil, I think. Haven't been under to verify this yet.

The brake reservoir has to be topped up every couple of weeks.

I said it was an outback car.

I can go on, but I better stop here or else.
