So before i head out and buy a new pod filter (KN), i was wondering which is better in the first place. Pot filters or the standard box. Because i know its different on alot of cars and read somewhere a while ago that VS boxes are alot better than any of the other random 7 cars tested... But from what i understand is a slightly different design from the standard VN box which isnt as good. so what should i go but? A KnN Box type filter or Pod filter? cheers

Flat filter in the standard box and a SC VS cold air intake seems to be the go.

What's the difference between understeer and oversteer?
Understeer is when the driver is scared.
Oversteer is when the passenger is scared.

Yeah pod filters are bad unless they have a heat shield. Also two things can happen one they can get you canaried on the spot and two they can void your insurance.

Do what i did and go for a highflow panel filter with a Sc v6 CAI. its legit and 100% better for your motor atleast your not sucking in hot air.

This will tell you a bit about standard airbox flow rates:

http://autospeed.com/cms/title_Box-Breaths/A_0073/article.html

Going off this article, I would be getting my hands on a VS airbox!

I had a K&N pod in mine but it was enclosed in a Mace Engineering pod enclosure. Souded good! lol It was a pretty expensive set up though (Around the $300 mark from memory). If you go with a pod, it has to be enclosed by law.

Thats the link i was looking for with the Box data. thanks VN91SX! But sadly i dont have much clue what most of you are talking about. haha sorry. So are you saying that i can use the bottom of a vn box wih the top of a vs? Or just straight on bolt a full vs box in, with or without the radiator snorkel? Or what? sorry again and thanks.

basically a pod is crap they suck hot engine air!!! get a vs cold air intake, a kn panel filter, the same vn air box ,( u might need to jigsaw the box a bit to fit the cold air intake)and fit it all in that wil give a sweet little boost nothing major but enough to notice ... remember the colder the air the better the response ... hope that helps

awsome sounds great. ive seen alot of random posts mentioning the v8 box. Is this somehow different to the v6? And on ebay there are also these intake fan unit which clamp into the intake pipe behind the box that apparently force more air in and increase econimy and HP... is this somehow true at all or just complete BS? It seems like the latter to me

basically anything on ebay that sez it will create more power by using power IE a FAN , well is bullsh1t , also the vn's and the like need a balance of airflow not juuust heaps of air running into the iac, air fuel mixture will be affected when pouring to much air into the the little six, as for the v8 box I really coulnt say , I can say wait around for VNSVLE he is fairly upto date with the mod opitons..he wil wil have a better idea on the v8 airflow!

u really dont want to fiddle with it unless you are going to be getting internal engine mods as well,, @ mezza in all reality y settle for second best , but to answer your question I have never tried them , but again I would'nt get one my self for the fact the k-n filters are a proven product and reliable the other benifit is you can wash them

Probabily asking a stupid question about this, but why woukdnt getting the mixture looked at be a good idea? as u said just adding more air could mess up the mixture. Cheers

The Drift product is a great hiflow filter. Washable and does not require service oil. I have used both K&N and Drift.
